Datuk Professor Ir Dr Mohd Zulkifli has been: • Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia • Chairman, Coastal and Offshore Engineering Institute • Chairman, Institute of Environmental Research • Director of Works, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (1990-1992) • Honorary Colonel (PA) JPA3/ DMT Civil Defence • Member, Management Board, National Higher Education Fund • Member, IRPA Panel Technical Committee for Engineering & Construction Datuk Professor Zulkifli is a renowned engineer for his academic excellence, contribution to research leadership as well as administrative and professional experience at the highest levels. He started his career as a Civil Engineer, Special Services Section, Public Works Department in Kuala Lumpur and then worked as Engineer-in-Charge, Public Works Department, Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Datuk Zulkifli, started serving UTM as Assistant Lecturer at Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1978, became Professor in 1991. He continued his contribution to the field of Structures and Materials through holding many positions in the university and faculty. Datuk Professor Zulkifli is also a fellow of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, a former council member of IEM and the Vice-President of the Malaysian Steel Structural Society. Datuk Professor Zulkifli has been the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, the premier university for engineering education since Jan 2001. Through this position, he has contributed to the growth of engineering field through engineering education.
