Professor Dr Mohd Azlan Hussain is an expert in process system engineering and process control. His research is focused on AI, fuel cell and flow batteries development. He is also known for his social contribution, the Solar Powered Automated Self-cleaning Ultrafiltration System. It was designed to produce clean drinking water from various water sources and was used to help critical areas affected by floods in 2015 and resolved water problems in some rural areas. Currently, his product is being used to alleviate the problem of access to clean water supply in five rural villages and Orang Asli villages in Malaysia, including Sarawak. Professor Dr Mohd Azlan Hussain has produced nine books, including book chapters, 192 Journal paper and 264 proceeding papers. His H-index 30 (Scopus) is with a citation of 4,007. He serves on the editorial board of three international journals, reviewer for over 100 international Journals. He also serves as a reviewer for local and international grants. Apart from being invited as Plenary and Keynote Speaker in various International Conferences, he is also invited as International Advisory Board of various prestigious International Conferences such as the World Process System Engineering Symposium, Process Systems Engineering Asia Conference and the Region Chemical Engineering Conference. In 2020, he was involved in the Interim Committee to set up the South East ASEAN Chemical Engineering Academic Association to be registered in Philippines.
