Professor Ts Dr Safian Sharif is an expert in the manufacturing and materials field. He is a member of the Turkey Additive Manufacturing Association (TAMA), an establishment to share the latest advancement and research opportunities in additive manufacturing by various experts across the globe. He served as a panel of Assessors for various research grant schemes under the cluster of manufacturing and material related projects, including post-COVID19 for MOSTI and MOHE. MOHE had appointed him as the Co-Head of Cluster Frontier Technologies & Advanced Manufacturing to assist in the evaluation process of the research grants. He was appointed by MOHE as MyRA Chairman of Internal Auditors, besides being an active Panel of Technical Assessors for Public-Private Research Network (PPRN) Grant. He was assigned as the principal researcher for the European Commission Project or Advanced Product Support Technologies (APOST), with a grant of RM 1,627,895.00. The main project objective was to promote the application of advanced manufacturing technologies of CAD/CAM, Rapid Prototyping and Virtual Manufacturing to the Malaysian Industries with European partners from the UK, Germany and Greece. Additionally, he was the SubProject Leader for MOSTI Prioritised Research Project, “Development of Endmills, Drills and Turning Tools from Ultra Fine-Grained Carbides and Oxides for Aerospace and Mould and Die”. An amount of RM1.5 million was granted to assist the local manufacturing industries in improving their tooling performance for the above applications. He has published more than 350 articles in journals, proceedings and book chapters. His Scopus h-index is 30 with 3,571 citations. He has been appointed as an Editorial Board member since 2010 for Machining Science Technology, an International Journal, (IF 2.071, Quartile Q2) WOS indexed, published by Taylor and Francis. He also served as an Editorial Board member for Journal Technology, a Scopus indexed journal. He has good networking with international partners in manufacturing and additive manufacturing from Korea, Indonesia, Tϋrkiye and Iran. Few articles had been jointly published in WOS and Scopus indexed journals.
