Professor Dr Lee Yeong Yeh is a key opinion leader and world-class expert in gastroenterology and hepatology. His research interests include neurogastroenterology, gut microbiota, obesity and gastrointestinal cancers. His work is impactful, with publication in high-impact journals in the field, including Gut and Gastroenterology (more than 280 papers with an H-index of 31; 3,573 citations—Google Scholar). His Scopus H-index is 22, with 1,809 citations. Prof Lee is experienced in conducting international clinical trials (e.g., Takeda, GlaxoSmithKline, Allergan etc.). He is the principal- and co-investigator of several local and international grants, including NIH (USA), MRUN LRGS, TRGS, FRGS, RUIs, short-terms and other smaller commercial and noncommercial grants. He and his team have been awarded more than RM5 million research grant. He has served as the national assessor of research grants for the MOHE and MOSTI. He is also a consultant and advisory board member for pharmaceutical companies (e.g., Danone, Servier etc.). His international networks include the University of Glasgow, Georgia Regents University, University of North Carolina and University of New South Wales (where he served as the Visiting Professorial Fellow). He has trained and supervised three postdoctoral fellows, eight PhDs, 20 masters and nine clinical gastroenterology fellows. He received awards and fellowships from prestigious medical bodies, including the American Gastroenterology Association and Royal Colleges of Physicians. He also won the Outstanding Young Malaysian Award (JCI Malaysia) in 2015 and sits on numerous editorial boards of international journals, regularly serves as a reviewer of articles and assessor of national and international grants and promotion. He is often invited to speak regularly at keynotes and international conferences (e.g., ANMA 2015, IDDF 2015, BGS Annual Meeting 2015-8, IDDW 2016, APDW 2016-7) and local meetings. He has served as the President of the Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Scientific Chair of Asia-Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) 2021 and committee members of numerous international societies, including the World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO), World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), OESO etc.
