Datuk Emeritus Professor Dr Norma Mansor has received various awards and wide recognition for her contributions and excellent achievements. In 1987, she received EEC ASEAN Award in Fontainebleau, Paris, and Fulbright Fellowship in 1990 to pursue collaborative research with researchers from Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She also received several awards and recognition from Japan Foundation-Waseda University in 1990, Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) in 1992, JIIA Fellowship from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994, IDE Fellowship from Institute of Developing Economies Japan 1995FF and Asia Pacific Rim (APRU) Universities in 1998. Her outstanding performance and contributions have earned her University of Malaya’s Excellent Awards for the year 1996, 1998 and 2002. In addition, she is a recipient of several national awards from the Malaysian King including Johan Setia Mahkota (J.S.M) in 2007, Darjah Indra Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) in 2010, and Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Jasa Negara (P.J.N) in 2011, which carries the title ’Datuk’. She was appointed as the Secretary of the National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC), Prime Minister’s Department in 2009. She was responsible for drafting the New Economic Model (NEM)-2010-2020, which became the basis of the 10th and 11th Malaysia Development Plan. In addition, she has provided advice and consultancy to more than 30 local and international agencies including the Economic Planning Unit, the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister’s Department as well as the Ministry of Finance. Among the international recipients of her expertise include the World Bank, the ILO, the ADB, OECD and the Islamic Development Bank. She has been invited to share expertise with other countries including Pakistan and Bangladesh. Her publications and public engagements for the past 30 years include over 100 articles, books, chapters in books, academic journals, technical reports, newspaper articles and others. She has served as chief editor and editorial member of renowned journals locally and abroad.
