CONTRIBUTIONS:
• Appointed as the 8th. Director General of the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB), Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities for 9 years and 8 months from 1 April 2009 to 31 December 2018.
• Prior to that, served as Academic Staff of Faculty of Forestry, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) for 29 years from 1980 to 2009.
• Managed to supervised 11 PhD graduates during in the research areas in Biocomposites, Fibre Reinforced Plastic Composites, Nanocellulose Composites and Pulp and Paper Technology while in UPM.
• Established and appointed as Founding Director of Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2005. Subsequently INTROP was awarded as HiCOE (High Centre of Excellence for R&D) by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) in 2017.
• Produced more than 110 articles and publications in journals, magazines, technical notes, papers in both international and domestic conferences and congress.
• Successfully introduced Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) as a potential crop for Malayisa to the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on 1 September 1999. Subsequently, I was appointed by Tan Sri Thong Yaw Hong (former Treasury Secretary General) and Chairman of Kenaf National Committee as the Head and Coordinator, Kenaf Downstream R&D in 2000 until 2009.
• Involved R&D in tropical hardwood especially in development of the applications of Tropical Timbers including Rubberwood for use as load bearing timber IBS (Industrialized Building Structures) structures for use in multi-story buildings. Collaborative R&D effort in the development of Glulam and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) for load bearing timber structures include from local Malaysian Universities such as Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and international university such as University of Stuttgart, Germany.
• In addition, significant R&D effort particularly on Rubberwood was also achieved in Furniture Designs towards enhancement of Own Design Manufacturing (ODM) of Rubberwood Furniture whereby 80% of Malaysian wooden furniture exports of RM 10 billion in 2020 are manufactured from Rubberwood. International (from Italy, Belgium, Australia among others) and local furniture designers were engaged in enhancing value addition of Rubberwood in ODM from the traditional OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing).
• Was instrumental in the establishment of Muar Furniture Park (MFP) in Bakri, Johore State, Malaysia with YAB Dato’ Seri Mohamad Khaled Nordin, Menteri Besar Johore. MFP was officially launched by the Prime Minister of Malaysia in April 2018. About 987 acres of land are currently being developed into a thriving, modern, export oriented, precision machineries and equipment with forms of automation furniture manufacturing. MFP shall contribute positively towards Malaysian furniture exports projected to be in the region of RM3-5 billion by the year 2030.
• Involved in two (2) Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO).

(ii) SEDAR: Founding Member 2020: Position: Hon. Secretary General
