July 24, 2023ASM was privileged to have the Minister of MOSTI, YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, grace the ASM ArtScience™️ Prize 2022 Winner Announcement Ceremony on 4 July 2023.
In his speech, YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang said, “Through ArtScience, we can captivate minds, foster curiosity, and inspire the next generation of creative thinkers and problem solvers who will shape the future. From an enculturation perspective, MOSTI intends to create a space where artists and scientists can collaborate and share ideas.”
Through the ArtScience™️ Initiative launched in 2019, ASM has organised the ASM ArtScience™️ Prize. The 2022 edition showcased the artwork of 23 finalists that emphasised the theme of “ArtScience™️ Lens on Planetary Health”.
The ASM ArtScience™ Prize is the first established in Malaysia to celebrate the promising community of artist-scientists. For the second year, Maybank Foundation emerged as the main sponsor for the exhibition.
The ASM ArtScience™ Prize 2022 winner was awarded to Dr Mohd Zulkifli Mustafa, Dr Rohimah Mohamud & Dr Lidawani Lambuk from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Their artwork titled “The Crown” entitled them to receive RM20,000, a certificate/plaque and a residency attachment.
Meanwhile, the Rising Star Award was awarded to Andrialis Abdul Rahman, Ts Ellyana Mohd Muslim Tan and Siti Norfatulhana Ishak with their artwork titled “Woman in Black and White”, bringing home RM10,000, a certificate/plaque and a residency attachment.
“Boxxie-Head” by Ts Dr Verly Veto Vermol, Zuraidy Abd Rahim & Khairul Nizan Mohd Aris won the People’s Choice Award and received RM5,000 and a certificate/plaque.
