National Science Challenge

National Science Challenge is an annual inter-school science competition aimed for Form 4 students. It comprises of 3 levels leading up to the Grand Finale which promises a fantastic study trip to Stockholm, Sweden together with other attractive prizes.

ScienceBuzz

Science Buzz is an interactive online portal that publishes informative articles in science and technology in a digestible manner. This portal promotes reader’s engagement in current issues in science via embedded video and online forum with other members.

Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM)

Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) is a project whereby it exclusively recruits and acknowledges top local researchers, annually. In turn, TRSM makes up a database which reflects the accomplishments of the Malaysian research scientists as role models of excellence, mentors to the next generation and leaders to forge ahead with the science, technology and innovation (STI) agenda of the nation.

Young Scientist Network (YSN)

YSN-ASM is a strong platform where top young scientists can interact, coordinate, and organize to meet some of the challenges faced by budding scientists in the areas of research and development. YSN aspires to be the voice for local young scientist in career advancements as well as their involvement in governance and policy-making of the country.

Young Physicians Leaders

The InterAcademy Medical Panel (IAMP) had organised the second session of Young Physician Leaders (YPL) programme at the World Health Summit in Berlin, Germany. 18 candidates from medical and scientific backgrounds attended; one of whom was a young physician from Malaysia, who was nominated by ASM. IAMP also works with the Gates Foundation funded project on Education of Health Professionals for the 21st Century. Three Malaysian young scientists have attended the programme since 2010.

CERN Summer Student Programme

CERN summer student programme offers students of physics, computing and engineering a unique opportunity to join in the day to day work of research teams participating in experiments at CERN. The eight week research period at CERN leads to follow on projects in the home institutions at the Masters and PhD levels.

IIASA Young Scientists Summer Programme

This programme offers a platform for Malaysian young scientists to conduct research in an interdisciplinary and international research environment as IIASA tackles global challenges through a systems analysis approach.

Inquiry-based S E (IBSE)

This study is to assess the effectiveness of “inquiry-based and hands-on” teaching and learning of Science in 4 selected schools in the Hulu Langat district, Selangor. Click for the full report outcome of this study.

Lindau Program

ASM’s initiative under the Nobel Laureate Program to enable carefully selected eminent young Malaysian scientists to participate in the annual Lindau meetings of Nobel Prize winners with other young scientists in Lindau, Germany. Also, this program involves study visit to all the Centres of Excellence( COEs) in science , technology and innovation in Europe.
