There has been a lot of attention on precision methods in healthcare, ranging from the use of genomics for disease prediction and treatment guidance, to the use of mobile technologies for population-level health interventions and promotion of healthier lifestyles. However, not many of these precision technologies have been successfully incorporated into national health insurance or clinical guidelines.
Most of it either remain as consumer products or are still financed through private out-of-pocket payments. What exactly is the gap between scientific research and widespread implementation, and why are some precision technologies more capable of bridging this chasm than others?
In this talk, we will explore the promise of precision technologies through a public health lens on implementation science, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness, and highlight the multisectoral partnerships necessary for precision methods to be successfully adopted.
