The Academy of Sciences Malaysia warmly welcomed the Minister and Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) to its office at MATRADE Tower on 19 July 2018.

Madam Hazami gave an introductory presentation of ASM to the Ministers, highlighting ASM’s role in Malaysia’s STI ecosystem as the nation’s thought leader in matters pertaining to science, technology and innovation (STI). Madam Hazami also proposed for the Ministers to look into STI-based governance in order to mainstream STI into national initiatives; she stresses that STI should be the main enabler towards achieving a Progressive Malaysia in 2050.

Also in attendance during the presentation were ASM Council Members Academician Tan Sri Dato’ Ir Ts Ahmad Zaidee Laidin FASc, Datuk Dr Abdul Razak Mohd Ali FASc, Academician Emerita Professor Datuk Dr Mazlan Othman FASc, as well as the Director of International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation under the Auspices of UNESCO (ISTIC), Dato’ Dr Sharifah Maimunah Syed Zin.

During the sixth week, the second task was to assemble the connection and panels of five MCP power supplies boxes, since the power supplies only arrived on Friday of the fifth week.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (Dedicated to Physics)

Every year, the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is dedicated to one of the three natural science Nobel Prize disciplines of Chemistry, Physics and Physiology/Medicine. Once every five years, an interdisciplinary meeting featuring all three natural sciences will be held. In addition, a Lindau Meeting that focuses on the Economic Sciences is held every three years.
