Since 2012, ASM has been representing Malaysia as a National Member Organisation (NMO) and its scholarly community on the governing council of the Institute of Advanced System Analysis (IIASA).
Carrying the theme “Sains Untuk Kesejahteraan”, the 2019 Johor State Level of Minggu Sains Negara (MSN) was held from 3 to 4 August 2019. It was organised by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), with strategic partners Bahagian Sains Teknologi dan ICT (BICT) dan Bahagian Perancang Ekonomi Negeri (BPEN) Johor.
There are several Laureates whom I have met personally and with whom I took a picture, including Sir Konstantin S. Novoselov, J. Georg Bednorz, Gerard Mourou, and Martin Edward Hellman.
This Meeting was a great experience that I will treasure forever in my career path. All activities were very informative, inspiring and motivating me to continue my work in Sciences.
On 30 June, Countess Bettina Bernadotte, President of the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings gave a welcome speech during the Opening Ceremony. The hall was filled with many Nobel Laureates and young scientists with whom I was able to socialise later during the Sunday Dinner.
A Senior Fellows’ Gathering was held on 2 August 2019 at The Gallery, Tournament Player Club in KL. The Gathering served as an informal platform to network, share thoughts and discuss matters pertaining to ASM as well as science, technology and innovation of the country.
The United Youth Movement of Malaysia has conferred the Youth Service Award 2019 to Ir Professor Dr Leong Wai Yie, member of the Young Scientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM).
Continuing the effort to foster a culture of research integrity in the Malaysian research ecosystem, the Young Scientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) has organised the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Workshop. The Workshop was held in cooperation with Akademi Kepimpinan Pengajian Tinggi (AKEPT) and the Ministry of Education (MOE).
